THE FIRST ELECTRIC THE TAYCAN SPORTS CAR IS NOW PRESENT IN INDONESIA

Porsche Taycan

Lentera_8.com | News Update - The sight of the powerful Porsche Taycan gliding through Singapore’s cityscape in all its gleaming white glory is enough to render any sports car fan speechless. The first fully-electric Porsche is finally arriving on our shores – with a lot to live up to. First reviewers declared it a “mighty” sports car, raving about its capability to accelerate from zero to 200 km/h in under 10 seconds – repeatedly. Porsche fans were fascinated by its cleanly-styled dashboard, harking back to the original 1963 Porsche 911. Even scientists weighed in, calling the Taycan the most innovative car in the world, as 13 out of its 27 new developments became world firsts. So, the million dollar question. How does this engineering marvel made in Germany measure up outside of the track, in the bustling streets of the real world?

The founder of the annual Porsche meet-up Das Treffen, Sihabutr “Tenn” Xoomsai, whose obsession with the sports car brand started in the 80s, was one of the first to experience the Taycan in Asia. Tenn was increasingly impressed with the sports car’s ability to weave in and out of the action with crisp breaking, precise handling and quick acceleration from light to light. No doubt, like every Porsche that came before it, the Taycan thrills with its impressive performance figures and innovation accolades, but these compelling superlatives might just be overshadowed by something else with the Taycan – the unmistakable soul in this thoroughbred Porsche.

Tenn agreed, musing, “I was a bit sceptical, but the Porsche DNA is there in spades. Design, dashboard, instruments, look and feel—pure Porsche. Home. And the performance is amazing!” Then he begins to calculate, “The Taycan is perfect for an Asian metropolis. I could drive for a week on a single charge before having to think about recharging.”

The Taycan Sports Car

At first glance, the beauty of this moment lies in the stark contrast of the muscular Taycan, the epitome of a modern driving machine, set against the backdrop and heritage of Singapore’s shop houses. Old against new. Tradition against innovation. But on a deeper level, perhaps it’s not so different after all. Asia, like Porsche, is layered. The Taycan has set a new standard for sports car innovation, and it carries with it over 70 years of considerable heritage. Singapore‘s Chinatown is one of the oldest parts of the city, and its heartbeat is intertwined with the central business district of one of the most advanced economies in the world. Old with new. Tradition with innovation.

And in the Taycan, performance with sustainability. Perhaps Tenn put it best, when he said, “That’s the magic of electric cars. You want to strike out into the unknown again, rediscover everything, start over from scratch. Techno instead of rock ‘n’ roll, but with the same punch. With incredibly powerful emotions. I’m a fan.” As the road ahead keeps evolving towards a future of electro-mobility, it’s this emotive experience that remains a constant. Or as Porsche calls it – the soul.
